Formed in the summer of 2007, Twelve Twenty began as a studio project conceived by Philadelphia-area natives Dayv Lord, Tommy Ciccone and Scott Frassetto. The band came together solely as an experiment – the trio were extremely at home in the studio environment after working extensively with other acts, such as Tidewater Grain, Moby, and various other projects through the years.
Soon after the start of these sessions, Lord, Ciccone and Frassetto knew they were onto something good, producing well-written and executed alternative rock songs. Acknowledging the inspirational impact of 70’s era rock-punk-n-glam (Cheap Trick, Sex Pistols and Johnny Thunders) as well as 90’s alt-rock (Superdrag, Lemonheads, Local H, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins), Twelve Twenty spawned its own singularly sweet yet gritty indie ear candy.
The early studio recordings, circulating online and in the real world, earned the band its first fans; as positive word-of-mouth reviews spread, what started as simple studio fun led the threesome back to the stage.
The band rocked the stage for the first time on July 4, 2007 and, after many more successful gigs, it was decided that Twelve Twenty should record a CD. The band’s first release with drp Records, Hit with the Cool Ray, was released late summer 2008 with a soft release to further test the waters. January 2009 the world will be hit head on by Twelve Twenty with full radio and video support. The 12-song CD features infectious, hook-filled singles such as “Vanity,” “Stalking the DJ,” “Radio, Video, Stereo, Etc.” and “RZ” – an homage to one of the band’s childhood heroes, Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander. The first single and video released from the CD will highlight “Stalking the DJ.”
Twelve Twenty’s bubbling under hype and buzz will be met with the release of a vinyl 7 inch and EP in late spring of 2009 to compliment the powerful full length. The band bursts at the seams with creativity and rapid musical growth and maturity and become restless quickly, so watch out for lots of interesting format releases constantly !!
